THE NORCA VISION
To establish Nordegg as Alberta’s favorite destination for off-road cyclists of all abilities, primarily through the development and stewardship of the Black Mountain Trail Network, and the cultivation of a club culture grounded in respect, inclusion, and fun.

WHY THE
GOOSE?
In his memoir, Martin Nordegg recalls a coal prospecting trip where he hiked ahead of his party. He stopped at a beautiful lake and spotted a small group of geese. Wanting goose for dinner, he picked a goose and fired twice - missing both times. The whole flock flew away.

Nordegg sat down, disappointed, and consoled himself with the beautiful view. That was when he spotted a seam of coal on the mountain above!

Nordegg staked the claim, and built the town of Nordegg between the lake and the coal seam.

We think of the goose that got away as our town's "lucky goose"-without it, the coal may not have been spotted and our town may not exist. The goose itself was lucky that day too!

MEET OUR BOARD
Our riders are the heart and soul of Nordegg Off Road Cycling Association. They come from all walks of life, but share a common passion for off-road cycling. Our community is made up of riders of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned veterans. We believe that everyone has something to contribute, whether it's through volunteering their time to help build and maintain trails, participating in social events, or simply sharing their love of the sport with others. DENNIS LANDON
Dennis Landon, passionate mountain biker, founding member of NORCA, and current Chair of the Board, was instrumental in realizing the dream of the Black Mountain Trail Network in Nordegg. Dennis recognized the untapped potential for mountain biking in the region and sought to bring the world-class trails found in BC closer to home. Seeing the community come together to enjoy the fruits of this labor is a source of immense pride for Dennis, who envisions the trail network as a catalyst for connection, adventure, and lasting memories for all who visit.
Dennis leads an Outdoor Leadership program for college students out of Frontier Lodge. The program helps develop young leaders through the outdoor context. When he's not out exploring the trails, you can often find him hiking, golfing, or simply soaking up the natural beauty of the Nordegg area, which he is lucky to call home.
MAC VIDAL
Mac Vidal, a Nordegg resident since 2016 and originally from Saskatchewan, has a deep-rooted passion for the area's unique mountain biking trails. Professionally, Mac leads an outdoor adventure center, fueling a love for outdoor activities like mountain biking, hunting, fishing, and rock climbing. With years of experience riding Nordegg's trails and being an engaged resident, Mac was instrumental in the creation of NORCA. Recognizing the potential for growth in the local biking scene, Mac helped transform community conversations into a concrete vision for NORCA, and the development of Black Mountain. Mac is excited to see this vision come to life, providing an epic mountain bike network for Albertans and locals alike, fostering community and shared adventure.
Mac lives and breathes outdoor adventure in the Nordegg area, and when he isn’t busy helping to design and build the trail network you will find him outside biking, hunting and fishing, and climbing with his family and friends.
HANNAH LANDON
Hannah Landon, a passionate advocate for outdoor recreation and community development, spearheaded the initiative to bring mountain biking back to Black Mountain, starting it all with a phone call to Land Manger Don Livingston. Her unwavering vision and tireless efforts led to the establishment of NORCA, where she has played a pivotal role in transforming the dream of a world-class trail network on Black Mountain into a burgeoning reality. Recognizing the transformative power of outdoor experiences, Hannah envisions the Nordegg trails as a catalyst for personal growth, community building, and lasting memories for all who visit.
When not championing the trails, Hannah can be found exploring the natural beauty around her home in Nordegg, whether it be on a backpacking adventure, tending to her garden, or sharing new experiences with her loved ones. As a seasoned outdoor professional and director of a college-level Outdoor Leadership Program, she is deeply committed to empowering young people and fostering their connection with the natural world.
BRAD LARSON
Brad Larson, a Nordegg resident, has been a passionate advocate for mountain biking in the region since NORCA's inception. He believes Nordegg's unique terrain and trails make it an ideal destination for the sport. Brad's own biking journey began in 1995 with the "Black Mountain Challenge," at the time considered the toughest race in Alberta, which solidified his love for mountain biking and led him to compete across Alberta and BC. Today, Brad is excited to see the sport flourish in his hometown, and he's committed to supporting the growth of the local riding community through his involvement with NORCA.
Outside of his commitment to NORCA, Black Mountain and the community, Brad enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors, and running his cabinet-making business.
ROB MCADAM
Rob McAdam, a seasoned mountain biker with over 25 years of experience exploring the Nordegg area, recently became a part-time resident and enthusiastic supporter of NORCA and the Black Mountain Trail Network after learning of and being inspired by the founders' group vision. He is continually impressed by the NORCA team's passion and professionalism, and considers his involvement in this community-driven initiative a true privilege. Professionally, Rob leads the Safety Codes team at the City of Edmonton, serving previously as Deputy Fire Chief, and is a retired Professional Forester.

When not contributing to the development of the trail network, Rob can be found enjoying a wide range of outdoor activities with friends and family, including his passion for adventure and travel motorcycling.
ROBIN POSTIKOFF
Robin Postikoff has been involved with Norca since he learned of the concept, shortly after the club was started. Robin remembers the trails on Black Mountain from over 20 years ago, and as a big advocate of the mountain biking scene, was excited to help create an even better trail system in the area.
When he isn’t biking, Robin works and hangs out with my family. For fitness, he enjoys trail building!
Robin is excited about the Nordegg cycling scene, as there is an opportunity to build a new area in terrain that is great for biking. With so much terrain for biking, Robin hopes to inspire people to get out in the back country and into healthy lifestyles, which is something that benefits everyone.
